Preserve Club And Residences Up The Game For Luxury And Fun
The 3,500 acre Preserve Club and Residences in Richmond, Rhode Island (with iconic sister property, Ocean House, less than 30 minutes away) is akin to an adult summer camp: a take on an outdoor-centric but fully contained luxury experience. Preserve Club and Residences is also New England’s only four-season sporting retreat and arguably the finest sporting club in America.
Guests have access to a myriad of amenities, ranging from clay-shooting to fly-fishing, rock-climbing, an equestrian program and an 18-hole executive golf course. Paul Mihailides, or the “Wizard of the Woods,” an avid supporter of the adventure lifestyle, has created this utopia of outdoor luxury adventure in his native Rhode Island – a place for couples, families and friends (only 150 miles from NYC – 2 hours 45 minutes by car).
In addition to the activities, guests can dine at a variety of on-site venues, including the Double Barrel Kitchen in the Main Lodge and the Maker’s Mark Hobbit House, a Tolkien-inspired cabin serving up wild game alongside Maker’s Mark bourbon. Guests can indulge in some pampering at the on-site OH! Spa. There is also access to the private white sand beach at sister property, the iconic five-star Ocean House, for those who want to venture to the nearby coast
The Preserve boasts a plethora of shops and restaurants, besides the aforementioned guest lodging and a spa, creating a self-contained community in which buyers have found comfort throughout the COVID-era, where outdoor activity offers both adventure and safety. In addition to on-site sporting programming that ranges from well-stocked fishing ponds to world-class sporting clays, upland hunting, rock climbing archery and more, the Preserve also boasts the longest indoor automated shooting range in America. Switching sporting gear, if guests ever wanted to train with a navy seal or learn how to hunt or fish, the Preserve is the venue of choice.
For a place to stay, and not just play, the Preserve has homes—a variety of configurations including the Signature Residences, Townhomes on The Green, and the new Hilltop Condominiums. The Preserve Club and Residences just closed on $24 million in sales with a record breaking sale at $6.2 million at $2,000 per square foot.
The property, which has $24 million under contract as well, is now beginning another phase of development of a village of twenty-six of its Cozy Cabin units. The Cozy Cabins suit those guests that really want the outdoor adult summer camp experience, offering a charmingly rustic community within a community. Ranging from petite 450 square foot tiny homes to 1,500 square foot cottages, half of the Cozy Cabin properties have been sold to date, highlighting the increasing desire seen for tiny living. Prices range from $649,000 to $1.2 million.
“We have more interest in our real estate now than we did pre-pandemic, but what is notable is that a subset of our buyers are coming from as far as the West Coast,” said Paul Mihailides, Chairman of The Preserve. “We saw an uptick of buyers from cities across the country who are choosing the Preserve for their first and second homes.”
Ownership also includes private dining in the Main Lodge, special member events and access to member-only amenities and activities. Buyers are sparing no expense as homes a Preserve Membership is a prerequisite to purchase a home at the Preserve, with fees beginning at $400,000.
