The 1st Annual Preserve Open, NSCA Registered Shoot a Resounding Success

Published on June 7, 2023

The Preserve Sporting Club & Residences presentation of the 1st Annual Preserve Open, NSCA Registered Shoot on June 6th, 2023 was, in every respect, precisely on-target. In fact, this unique event presented 200 target clays and two flights for shooters of all levels, with four--seater carts available to help ensure a comfortable shooting experience.

The first flight began at 9:30am following a warm-up period from 8am - 9:15am. A breakfast buffet was provided for registered shooters. After completing 100 targets, first flight shooters enjoyed lunch courtesy of Double Barrel Steak. The second flight began at 2pm and ended at 5pm with an additional 100 targets.

The Preserve is truly incomparable in terms of its preservation of storybook southern New England topography. Rolling hills punctuated by giant, glacier-deposited boulders and blanketed by old growth forest unchanged over millennia provided visual respite for shooters.

At the end of the day, awards were presented to those who placed in the top three spots in each category. To be eligible for prize money, shooters had to be registered members of the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSCA). The High Overall (HOA) winner received $1,250 while 2nd and 3rd places received $750 and $250 respectively.

For those who chose to make a day out of it, dinner reservations were available at Double Barrel Steak by Chef David Burke from 5:30pm - 8pm. Registration was required for both the shoot and warm-up period as well as dinner reservations.

“We are proud to have hosted such an amazing event that brings together avid clay shooters from all over the region," said The Preserve Sporting Club & Residences Chairman Paul Mihailidies. "This proved to be truly a unique experience that you won't find anywhere else!"
