RI State Troopers team up with Preserve to hold Special Olympics fundraiser
RICHMOND, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island State Troopers Association partnered with The Preserve Sporting Club held a fundraiser Sunday to benefit Rhode Island’s Special Olympic Athletes.
Over 250 participants hit the fields, and their clay targets.
“It’s near and dear to my family. My wife’s brother was a Special Olympian. He died about 15 years ago, he was a swimmer,” Rhode Island State Police Colonel James Manni told ABC6.
Paul Mihailides, Chairman of the Preserve, provided his first-class facility for the cause.
“We as a family have supported this and once The Preserve got up and running about two years ago we decided to have the event here,” Mihailides explained.
“It’s the best venue in America to have it and two we want to give back.”
The clay shooting fundraiser consisted of clay shooting at 25 different shooting locations. Clay shooting
is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.
Additionally, the Preserve is considered to be one of the leading destinations of its kind on the East Coast. 100% of the proceeds go to Special Olympics. To donate and learn more about the Special Olympics, visit there website here
